Adoption - Matchmaking Application

Most of our kitties have arrived here for a reason; other rescues deemed them too expensive to fix or too contagious to treat. Therefore, if you want to adopt immediately and cannot wait, discard this app and seek an adoption elsewhere. We will generally attempt to call you within 3 days of receipt of your application, depending on how busy we are. Below is our five-stage adoption process:

Stage 1: Complete and submit this application

Stage 2: If all looks good, a phone interview will be conducted where we will get to know each other a bit more and we might establish an appointment

Stage 3: Pay a nonrefundable fee to meet the kitties. It's $30 for one person, $50 for two or more. This fee is paid through our website under Save A Kitten, then Donate. If there's a match, the fee will be deducted from the adoption fee (Note: Do not pay this until after the phone interview. If the appointment is canceled or the adoption does happen, this rolls into a donation to our rescue).

Stage 4: Once payment is confirmed as received, you will receive a text with our address as confirmation of the appointment.

Stage 5: Meeting the adoptable kitties. (Questions are strongly encouraged, but we will not answer kitty questions until the day of the appointment, as who you come here for may not be who you adopt)

Contrary to what you see on television, in the movies, or on social media, animals should NEVER be a gift or reward, especially to a minor. In our experience, neither ever ends well, so we will not allow that (these are lives, not toys).

We are open by appointment only for adoptions 7 days a week. However, only two per day as the appointments generally take a few hours. The earliest time offered is at 11am, and the last appointment of the day begins at 3pm.

Completing this application does NOT guarantee an adoption will take place. However, in case there is a match, make sure to bring with you a pre-approved pet carrier, appropriate in size for the kitty. This is so your kitty/s have a safe trip to their new home. For safety reasons, each kitty should have their own carrier. We will NOT release without one.

All our kitties have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped.

All are required to be INDOOR-ONLY and, since they've had such a hard start at life, adopters are asked to keep in contact with us as we want to hear how well the baby/s are doing. Adopters have the option of connecting with us directly or posting updates in our Discord (info given in the adoption contract on the day of adoption. To get a sneak peek of the kitty/s, join us on TikTok every day from 8:30am to noon, and again at 4:30pm. Search: @CriticalKittenCoalition
